Stratford city councillor to run for Ontario’s New Democrats in Perth-Wellington

STRATFORD — Official Opposition Leader Andrea Horwath was in Stratford Friday to introduce local business owner and Stratford City Councillor Jo-Dee Burbach as the Ontario NDP’s 2022 candidate for Perth-Wellington.

Burbach will be acclaimed as the NDP’s Perth-Wellington candidate at a meeting on Nov. 28.

Quotes

NDP Leader Andrea Horwath
“Jo-Dee has been a fighter for Stratford families at city hall, and I know she’ll bring that same determination to making it easier for folks in this region to build their best life here. Her experience as a local business owner is an asset to our strong team of New Democrats. Together, we’re fighting for the future every Ontarian deserves: world-class public health care, home care and long-term care that lets adults age with dignity, classrooms where kids get the one-on-one support they need to thrive, and a future where our kids and grandkids aren’t threatened by a worsening climate crisis. Jo-Dee is focused on making sure people can actually afford the life they’re working for. And she’s devoted to giving back to the community she loves — that’s exactly what people in Perth-Wellington deserve in an MPP.”

Jo-Dee Burbach, NDP candidate for Perth-Wellington
“After watching it get harder and harder for local families to afford the life they’re working hard for, I’m ready to take my fight for our community to Queen’s Park. We don’t have to settle for Liberal and Conservative governments that make big cuts and bad choices like freezing hospital budgets and firing nurses and teachers. Andrea Horwath and Ontario’s New Democrats have a plan to put people first by improving health care and investing in our kids, from giving children a high-quality public education to helping young adults find homes they can afford in the community where they grew up.”
